Simulation of EW Wave Generation via Quadratic B-spline Finite Element Method

Abstract


Quadratic B-spline finite element method is presented for the Equal Width (EW) equation. The migration of a solitary waves and development of undulations are studied to validate the method. The generation of solitary waves in the presence of a boundary forcing is modelled for the EW equation. Comparison with the results of recent algorithms is made so that the use of the quadratic B-splines in the Galerkin s method as shape functions is shown to be computationally efficient. The Fourier stability analysis of the method is also investigated.
