Modeling of Passive Scalar in a Turbulent Free Jet Under the Coriolis Effect

Abstract


We are interested, in this paper, in the diffusion and the transport of a passive scalar of a three-dimensional turbulent inhomogeneous free jet in the presence of a mean concentration gradient submitted to Coriolis forces. The problem is described by a linear spectral approach and an asymptotic analysis. In this model, there exists two smalls parametersε characterizing the relative thickness of the jet and U∞ characterizing the non-dimensional wind-speed. These parameters govern the asymptotic analysis. The use of both combined spectral analysis and asymptotic tools, the solutions of these equations are determined. Some examples are considered, for which we estimate the application ranges of this model. The results are matched with other results obtained by means of numerical methods and experimental results.
