Analysis of a Bulk Queue with Choice of Service Closedown Multiple Vacation Server Breakdown and Repair
This paper analyzes a bulk queue with choice of service, multiple vacation (MV), closedown, server breakdown and repair. The server gives two types of services type 1 and type 2. Whenever the queue size is less than `a’, the server starts closedown and then resumes MV. Breakdown may occur when the server is busy which will not affect the batch in service. After finishing that batch of service (first or second), it will be sent for repair. The supplementary variable method is used to derive the probability generating function (PGF) of the queue size distribution at an arbitrary epoch for the steady-state case. The system performance indices and cost analysis are also obtained. Numerical simulations are performed for various system parameters.
