Estimation of Interquartile Range of the Study Variable Using the Known Interquartile Range of Auxiliary Variable

Housila P. Singh, Sergio Martínez Puertas, Sarjinder Singh

Abstract

In this paper, a general class of estimators for estimating the population interquartile range of the study variable using the known population interquartile range of an auxiliary variable has been proposed. Asymptotic expressions for bias and mean square error of the proposed class of estimators have been derived. Asymptotic optimum class of estimators (AOE’s) has also been investigated with its approximate mean square error. An empirical study is carried out to demonstrate the performance of various estimators belonging to the proposed class over the conventional estimator.
