Application Of Gröbner Bases Theory To Derive Steady State Rate Equations In Biochemical Kinetic Theory

Mustafa Bayram, Nura Guzel, Ercan Celik

Abstract

The derivation of a rate law according to steady-state assumption for a particular enzyme mechanism essentially involves the solution of a set of simultaneous non-homogeneous linear equations. Many workers introduce a number of methods to derive such equations. But, all most all of them are focused on single enzyme systems. In this paper we demonstrates the use of MAPLE, especially its Gröbner bases package which mainly depends on Polynomial Ideal Theory, for determining rate equations for both single and multi enzyme systems in Biochemical Kinetic Theory.
