Fitting Overdispersion Data by Using Tweedie Distribution

Abstract



We consider modeling the overdispersion data which takes exponential shape. Exponential dispersion models (EDMs) are the response distributions for generalized linear models. EDMs adequate for fitting exponential overdispered count data. Any EDM can be characterized by its unit variance function V ( ). Tweedie, Hind-Demetrio and Poisson-Tweedie models belong to Exponential dispersion models.

This paper is interested in Tweedie models which are adequate for fitting exponential overdispered count data. We study the data of the total cost of fire claims. The importance of studying the total cost of claims and knowing its distribution is great interested in a lot of researchers. These data are continuous with discrete mass at zero and contains overdispersion. The individual fire claims takes exponential shape against number of claims.
