Constructing the Euler-Maclaurin Formula (Celebrating Euler's 300th birthday)

Vito Lampret

An idea how to construct Euler-Maclaurin-like formulas of low orders is presented together with an elementary approach to the more general Euler-Maclaurin formula of an arbitrary order, which also includes Boole's formula for summation of alternating series. Some examples of applications of the Euler-Maclaurin formula are also given.
