On the Reduction of Hamiltonian Matrices to a Hamiltonian Jordan Canonical Form

We study a Hamiltonian Jordan canonical form using symplectic similarity transformations. The construction of the given transformations are based on new symplectic reflectors defined on C2n×2. As a particular case, we consider a Hamiltonian matrix whose eigenvalues are distinct and have nonzero real part. Some numerical examples are given.
