Strike-Slip Fault Model with Variable Discontinuity in Monoclinic Elastic Half-Space

Dinesh Kumar Madan, Poonam Arya, N.R. Garg

Abstract

The problem of static deformation of monoclinic elastic uniform half space has been considered. Closed-form analytical expression of the horizontal displacement due to variable slip along a very long vertical strike slip fault is obtained. The variations of dimensionless displacement with dimensionless horizontal distance from the fault trace due to exponential slip profile and the effect of anisotropy have been numerically studied. It is observed that the exponential discontinuity and the anisotropic parameters affect significantly the horizontal displacements due to very long vertical strike slip fault.
