A Discrete Ishita Distribution and its Applications

Abstract


A discrete Ishita distribution, a discrete analogue of Ishita distribution, using infinite series approach of discretization method has been carried out. Its moments and moments based descriptive statistics and generating functions have been obtained. The behavior of mean, variance, and coefficient of variation, skewness, kurtosis and index of dispersion has been discussed both numerically and graphically. Maximum likelihood estimation has been discussed for estimating the parameters of the distribution. Two datasets have been considered for testing the goodness of fit of the proposed distribution and its fit was found satisfactory over Poisson-Lindley, discrete Lindley, discrete Quasi-Lindley and Poisson-Ishita distributions.
