Analysis of a two processor system with breakdown preventive maintenance and closedown time
This paper analyzes the behavior of a two processor system with breakdown, preventive maintenance and closedown time under time-dependent state. A two processor system possesses main and backup processors. The main processor will be in either operative state or failure state. The main processor may fail when it is busy. At that moment, a backup processor starts the service at a rate lower than the service rate of the main processor. Whenever the system becomes empty, the processor (main or backup) resumes closedown work and then commences preventive maintenance. The probabilities are obtained for transient state. Further, mean and variance are also obtained. Finally, numerical simulations are provided.
