Li Zhang

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the internal corporate governance of state-owned logistics companies in China, using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Following the survey among Chinese corporate-governance experts, the evaluation indicators system which contained 12 indicators belonging to 4 criteria of the internal corporate governance was established, and the weights of the criteria and indicators were calculated based on AHP, then we chose three listed logistics companies directly under the central government in China (China COSCO, Sinoair and CMST) to evaluate their internal corporate governance in 2012. The research results showed that the most important criterion was the board of directors, and the most important indicator was the status of chairman of the board being also general manager or CEO. And the internal corporate governance of CMST was the best in the three chosen companies, while the internal corporate governance of China COSCO was the worst. Finally some advice was given to these companies for improving their internal corporate governance.
