Intelligent Single Particle Optimization and Particle Swarm Optimization Fusion Algorithm

Peiwu Li, Jia Zhao

Abstract

The paper proposes the fusion algorithm based on intelligent single particle optimization and particle swarm optimization. The fusion algorithm is divided into two levels, the upper level is the elite particle swarm with better solution, and the lower is composed of a plurality of intelligent single particles. In the evolution process, each intelligent single particle in the lower lever evolves independently using standard intelligent single particle optimization algorithm, searches the local extreme point, when a steady state was reached, intelligent single particle with better solution contributed itself to delivery its position to elite particle swarm in the upper for particle?s position initialization. After attaining effective information of the lower level, the upper level evolves using standard PSO, while adjusting the inertia weight parameters to expand the search scope, until it meets algorithm termination conditions. Experimental results demonstrate that combining with the advantages of intelligent single-particle and particle swarm algorithm, the proposed algorithm in the paper with fast evolutionary and strong optimization ability, whose optimization capacity exceeded the international improved algorithm based on PSO and ISPO, has some advantages in optimizing complex high-dimensional multimodal function with a large number of local optimal point.
