Yi Liu

Abstract

Defensive quality is a key factor to guarantee the winning in a basketball match. The aim of his thesis is to carry out effective analysis of defensive quality in current basketball matches based on basis theory and to reach an authentic reflection and understanding of it. Via building a hierarchical model, this research conducts an objective and accurate evaluation of basketball defensive quality. The information from the evaluation can be accurately feed back to coaches, who can further establish pertinent basketball training scheme to promote the real effect of training and team members’ ability and enhance the basketball defensive quality finally. In the hierarchical model, effective rebound (0.23), instantaneous offence-defensive conversion (0.20) and multiple access to the ball (0.21) influence the result a lot, and steals, blocks and rejections (0.13), preventing opponents’ ball transferring (0.17), collaborative defensive battle among team members (0.16), defensive mistakes and foul (0.12) and defensive efficiency (0.14) have less impact on the result, which accords with the match rules and is applicable.
