Application of Delphi-AHP-TOPSIS Model in Evaluation of Undergraduate Dissertation in English Majors

Mei Luo

Abstract

This paper applies a comprehensive model of Delphi, AHP and TOPSIS to evaluate graduation dissertation in undergraduate English courses. In this study, 17 criterion are determined by using the Delphi method, and these criterion are classified into four major aspects based on expert advice, including topic selection, research methodology and implementation, dissertation writing and oral defense. Hierarchy is later constructed for the criterion, and weight of each criteria is determined by applying the AHP. Lastly, the relative closeness for the dissertation is calculated by weighting TOPSIS and the rank is obtained. In order to verify the feasibility of the evaluation model, 16 undergraduate dissertations in English majors are selected for the study, and ranking for the 16 dissertations is finally determined. It is hoped that the application of the combined Delphi, AHP and TOPSIS provides a new way for evaluation of undergraduate dissertations in English majors.
