Underground Intrusion Localization and Identification for Distributed Optical-Fiber Sensing Perimeter Protection

Hua Zhang, Xiaoping Jiang, Chenghua Li

Abstract

The intrusion detecting technologies based on optical-fiber sensors have been used widely. However, when used in underground intrusion detection, it is important to localize the intruder precisely. In this paper, an underground intrusion localization and identification algorithm is presented. In the algorithm, the relative times of arrival(TOAs) and the differences of the distances from the intruder to the sensors are used to deduce the localization equations and the iterative least-squares estimation method is used to get the optimal estimation of the location of the intruder. Then the estimated location is used to identify the false intrusion signal to reduce the rate of false alarm. The simulation and experiments demonstrate that the algorithm can get precise intrusion localization and reduce the rate of false alarm.
