Phase Noise Extraction and Frequency Difference Elimination Algorithm

The traditional phase discriminator cannot guarantee the equality and orthogonality of the frequency between source signals measured and reference source signals, which has an influence on the phase noise measurement. In order to improve the precision of the phase noise extraction, this paper uses the frequency difference elimination algorithm to extract the phase noise through modeling the phase noise signals and estimating the parameters. Simulation experiment results show that the algorithm proposed in this paper can effectively eliminate the frequency difference of the output signal from phase discriminator and extract the phase noise signal, and improve the noise bottom of the system and the precision. At the same time, this algorithm can decrease the requirement of the reference source and thus reduce the measurement cost.
