Local Scale Characteristics Analysis on the Geomagnetic Diurnal Variation

Chao Niu, Xiaoniu Zeng, Yihong Li, Xiaojun Yang, Daizhi Liu

Abstract

The analysis on the local scale characteristics of the geomagnetic diurnal variation plays an important role in many application fields of geomagnetic studies. In previous studies, the suitability of the conclusion is finite due to the number of the geomagnetic stations in the range of local scale is few. Based on the adequate instance data of different spatial scales data provided by the local scale geomagnetic observation experiments, the article analyzes the local scale characteristics of the geomagnetic diurnal variation. The main conclusion is following below: on the smaller distance scale, the morphology, the range, the extreme value, and the extreme value time of the diurnal variation of different geomagnetic stations show a better consistency. However, if we study the numerical differences (such as the difference in error, correlation coefficient) between the two-two stations, the results show a certain geographical and temporal randomness.
