Chaotic sequences as pseudo-random sequences obtained from 2-dimensional maps

Danièle Fournier-Prunaret, Abdel-Kaddous Taha

Abstract

Chaotic sequences can be obtained from nonlinear 2-dimensional (2-D) maps. Regarding potential applications to communication or cryptography, it is of interest to know if chaotic sequences can be considered as pseudo-random sequences. In this paper, we propose chaotic sequences issued from 2-D maps with quadratic or cubic nonlinearities, and sequences obtained from trigonometric mappings. By using NIST statistical tests (NIST, 2000), we show that some of them can be good candidates.

Keywords

chaotic sequences, two-dimensional map, pseudo-random sequences.
