Optimal Design Algorithm for Single-Stage Gas Lift Jet Pump

Wei Luo, Ruiquan Li, Yong Wu, Jian Wu

Abstract

As to single stage gas lift jet pump with one G/L jet pump installed at the very bottom of gas lift well together with the above multi-stage gas lift valves, because the jet pump process is constrained by multiple factors of oil wells, there is no mature and feasible combined process design method available, therefore, study is made in this regard. First, calculation formula in terms of the pressure ratio of outlet and inlet of jet pump was achieved based on the mass conservation, momentum conservation, energy conservation and gas state equation of G/L jet pump, then the continuous gas lift process design was combined with jet pump process design. The deepest gas injection point was selected as the dynamic solution point and with the nodal analysis method, the gas lift jet pump design approach with the combination of two processes were inferred. Eventually, the gas lift jet pump design under the condition of given volume of gas injection were provided, which was compared with conventional gas lift and therefore, the difficulty of optimal design for combined processes was solved.
