Studies on Acoustic Source and Application Algorithms of Acoustic Pyrometry

Yan Chen, KeBao Xu, ShouShan Liu

Abstract

Acoustic Pyrometry is an advanced technique for gas temperature measurement. It has applied to various industries, particularly to hot zones and extremely harsh environment. Compared with the traditional methods, it enables non-intrusive, accurate, reliable gas temperature measurements used on real-time basis. This paper reviews the development of Acoustic Pyrometry. A new acoustic source depended on the principle of electromagnetic is proposed, and its structure is presented. The cross-correlation algorithm to gain the time of flight of acoustic waves and the Least-squares method to reconstruct the temperature field are presented. The advantages and limitations of these techniques are also discussed. Several emerging questions are presented.
