A Study of Logistic Map using Wavelets

Sarita Azad, R. Srivastava

Abstract

In the last few decades there has been increasing interest in applying techniques from wavelet theory to nonlinear dynamics. In this work discrete wavelet transform is used as an exploratory method to analyze logistic map at different values of the control parameter. In particular, capability of multi-resolution analysis is explored in identifying regular and chaotic regions of parameters. Using the proposed method it is reported that chaos in logistic map can be characterized with nonconvergence of wavelet coefficients.
