The Effect of Number of Units Produced on Performance Measures for MCSP-2-C Continuous Sampling Plan

Pannarat Guayjarernpanishk, Tidadeaw Mayureesawan

Abstract

In this paper, the behavior of performance measures in MCSP-2-C plan is studied as the number of units produced changes. The important performance measures for this plan are the average fraction inspected (AFI) and the average outgoing quality (AOQ). Simulations were carried out for a range of numbers of units produced, namely, N = 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1,000, 1,200, 1,400, 1,600, 1,800, 2,000, 2,200, 2,400, 2,600, 2,800, 3,000, 3,200, 3,400, 3,600, 3,800, 4,000, 4,500 and 5000. Processes in which values for the incoming fraction p of non-conforming units produced on the line were 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04 and 0.05 were simulated. For each N and p, the values for i, m, r and c were selected, the values of i = 10, 20 and 30, the values of m = i. Sampling frequencies f1 = 1/r, f2 = 2f1 with r = 4, 6, and values of c = 2, 3. The results showed that all values of p, the AFI and AOQ formulas defined in the MCSP-2-C plan were very good approximations for all sets of i, r and c if the number of units produced was greater than or equal to 2,200.
