Modeling the Effects of Air Pollutants and Their Precursors on Susceptible - Diseased Population

Manju Agarwal, Abhinav Tandon

Abstract

A nonlinear mathematical model is presented to study the spread of diseases caused by air pollutants among the living species (human beings). The air pollutants are not only assumed to be emitted from external sources at a constant emission rate but also formed by their precursors produced by the population. The model is analysed for local and global stability of the interior equilibria using stability theory of differential equations. Moreover, the numerical simulation of the proposed model is also performed by using fourth order Runge - Kutta method. It is concluded from the analysis as well as from numerical simulation that if the rate of emission of pollutant and rate of its transformation from precursor into the environment increases, the density of the diseased population increases.
