Application of Multivariate Statistical Analysis in Elucidation of Hydrogeochemical Data: A case study

K. Srinivasamoorthy, S. Chidambaram, M. Vasanthavihar

Abstract

Correlation and factor analysis is provided in parametric classification of hydrogeochemical explanation. A total of 216 samples representing complete lithology like Peninsular gneiss, Charnockite and Calc gneiss for four different seasons was collected and analyzed for major ions like Ca, Mg, Na, K, HCO3, Cl, SO4, NO3 PO4, F and H4SiO4. Correlation analysis reveals Mg, Cl and Na are spinal and others seasonal. Factor analysis indicates dominance of anthropogenic source followed by lithological influence. Factor score overlay indicate major hydrogeochemical active regimes are spread in western, eastern and southern parts of the study area.
