Multifractal Analysis of Rainfall in România

A. Bărbulescu, C. Şerban

Abstract

Spatial and temporal variability of rainfall across multiple scales is of fundamental interest for the scientists that work in hydro – meteorology. The multifractal analysis of precipitation is a recent topic of research in hydro-meteorological field. In order to contribute to a better understanding of the precipitation variability in Dobrudja, a region situated in the South - East of Romania, we study the multifractal behaviour of mean monthly precipitation recorded in the period January 1965 - December 2005 at ten meteorological stations in this region and we compare the results.
