Abstract


This article discusses the problem of interpretation of the "sustainable development" concept in the light of the current foreign economic conditions. The authors quote different definitions of this notion available in the scientific literature. The article contains discussions of key factors for the sustainable social and economic development of Russia, as well as opportunities for sustainable social and economic development of the northern territories in the Russian Federation with regard to their specific features.
