Estimating Scale Parameter of an Exponential Population under Linex Loss Function based on Records

Suchandan Kayal

Abstract

This article deals with the problem of estimating the scale parameter of an exponential population based on record values with respect to an asymmetric loss function. Bayes, generalized Bayes and empirical Bayes estimators are obtained. The best scale equivariant estimator is shown to be admissible and minimax. Sufficient conditions for admissibility and
inadmissibility in a linear class of estimators are obtained.

Keywords

linex loss function, scale equivariant estimator, generalized Bayes estimator, admissibility, minimax.
