Classification Technique for Linear Discriminate Analysis For Civil Engineering students as per their Specialization

Sadoon Abdullah Al-Obaidy, Bilal N. Al-Hasanat

Abstract

This study is considered as an attempt for employing the discriminated analysis method and classification for the purpose of achieving the assessment of a discriminant function through which we can discover the reasons of the actual difference between two groups of students-graduates of civil engineering department at Al Hussein Bin Talal University in accordance with their major specialization. Fisher’s Linear Discriminant Function was
used as a tool for statistical analysis. Additionally, the current paper aims to showing the efficiency of the discriminant function which we will reach and the possibility of its use for the purpose of discriminating and classifying the students (unknown or affiliation) into the correct group in future.

Keywords

Fisher‘s Linear discriminant function, multivariate analysis, Hoteling’s T2 test, Mahalanobis D2 test.
