Analysis on the relation with similarity measure and hesitation for the intuitionistic fuzzy sets

Sanghyuk Lee, Youpeng Yang

Abstract

Hesitation analysis has been carried out on the intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs). Hesitation degree plays important role to provide decision making and similarity measure providing to the different patterns which are expressed with IFSs. Relation between fuzzy sets (FSs) and IFSs are illustrated through figures, and its characteristics are analyzed. Additionally, the difference of FSs and IFSs are explained through investigating hesitation and their similarity measure derivation. FSs similarity measure has been designed by the consideration of membership or non-membership degree, whereas IFSs need to consider hesitation even it depends on the two membership degrees; membership and non-membership. Hesitation degree is analyzed and classified from the information overlap or non-overlap viewpoint. The proposed hesitation analysis provides more precise clarification results and it could be useful to design similarity measure between comparable information. Classification results are illustrated with the Electroencephalography (EEG) signal discrimination problem.
